On November 5, the Committee of the Whole provided direction to refer the Catchment Areas, Cross Boundary Applications and Programs of Choice Policy back to staff to amend the policy more in line with option 2A regarding busing.
2. Amend the policy further and refer for final approval.
a. An alternate amendment considering the busing concerns for middle school students attending a middle school that does not align with their home school catchment, would be to clarify that bussing would not be provided to students from the schools of choice or a cross boundary school that attend a middle school that does not align with their home school catchment.
i. For example, bussing to Heritage Park would not be provided to students that would receive bussing to Hatzic Middle school based on their home address.
This would eliminate the impact of the schools of choice on busing.
