Mission Public Schools, Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) and the Fraser Valley Métis Association (FVMA) have partnered together to bring new distinctions-based childcare spaces for Métis Children and families in the West Heights Community.

The project is in the initial planning stage. Partners are developing the project scope, budget, timelines, and agreements necessary to satisfy funding and legislative requirements.

We will use this platform to engage with parents, staff, and the general public during the various stages of this project.

On Thursday, May 18th, 2023, the community could connect with stakeholders about the new distinctions-based child care coming to West Heights Elementary.

On December 1, 2023, Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) for not-for-profit operators that are interested in operating the child care program in Mission, BC - opening Spring of 2024. Total number of spaces: 24 (Infant Toddler - 8, 3-5 childcare -16)

Métis Nation British Columbia envisions an Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) system in which Métis children and families throughout British Columbia are provided with culturally relevant, self-empowering ELCC programs and supports that focus on children and families first. Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is seeking Not-For Profit Organizations that have the required resources and experience to provide high-quality, Métis specific child care programs to support this vision across the lifespan - beginning at birth. See the poster here.

Education Early Learning

The RFP is available at the MNBC Website. There will be two engagement sessions for operators on December 13, 2023: 12pm - 1pm and 6:30-7:30pm. Registration link.

Ground Breaking Ceremony on January 9, 2024, from 10:30 - 11:30 AM in honour of this site!
